    • sandpaper
    • scissors
    • painter's tape
    • 2" flat brush
    • #1 and #2 round brushes
    • tassel
    • container
    • 1" angled brush
    • wooden slat deer head
    • round birch wood beads
    • suede lace

Allow paint to dry fully before continuing to the next step.

    1. Sand any rough edges. Paint the entire deer head with Everlasting. Add a second coat of paint, if needed. Let dry completely.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Counting from the bottom edge of the five slatted sections of the deer head, locate the second and fourth sections up from the bottom. (You will paint these two sections to resemble a black and white plaid design.) Start by laying down six horizontal strips of blue tape over the second and fourth sections. Space strips evenly apart to create about a 1" stripe. Be sure that all tape edges are pressed down and sealed tightly.
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Mix (1) part Everlasting with (2) parts Carbon in a separate mixing dish to make a dark grey color. Mix well.
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Using the mix, paint horizontal grey stripes in between the blue tape. (You should end up with four grey, horizontal, 1"-thick stripes.) Let dry. Remove the horizontal blue tape strips.
    8. Instruction #4
    9. Tape off five vertical 1" strips that overlap the existing grey stripes. (Make sure that all tape edges are pressed down and sealed tightly.) Paint grey vertical stripes between the blue tape areas. Let dry. Leave the tape in place.
    10. Instruction #5
    11. Apply another layer of tape horizontally. Use Carbon to paint over the exposed grey areas. Let dry. Remove all tape.
    12. Instruction #6
    13. Paint a mud cloth pattern of dots, lines, and circles. Using a small round brush, paint free-hand with Carbon in the remaining (3) Everlasting sections. Let dry. For added durability, apply Ultra-Matte Varnish to seal paint.
    14. Instruction #7
    15. Paint the wooden beads with Carbon. Let dry.
    16. Instruction #8
    17. String the wooden beads and tassel onto a 15" piece of suede lace.
    18. Instruction #9
    19. Tie the beaded necklace around the neck of the deer.
