Nautical Holiday Frame Card Display

Turn a flea market frame and chicken wire into this eye-catching hangout for holiday cards and messages.


    • paper towels
    • sandpaper
    • 2" chip brush
    • 1" flat brush
    • staple gun
    • hot glue gun and glue sticks
    • plain white copy paper
    • cardstock
    • letter stamps
    • clothespins
    • embellishments of choice
    • frame
    • ribbon
    • chicken wire
    • wire cutters



    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Lightly sand and clean the large wooden frame. Add chicken wire to the back of the frame, if needed. Cut the chicken wire to the size of the frame and use a staple gun to attach it to the frame.

    3. Using a 1" flat brush, paint the front of the frame in Legacy and the sides of the frame in Refreshing. Allow the paint to dry completely between coats.

    5. When the paint is dry, brush a coat of Light Satin Varnish over the painted frame.

    7. Cut pieces of plain copy paper for the banner that are slightly larger than the letter stamps.

    9. Lightly paint the stamps and press firmly onto cardstock. (We used Rouge, Refreshing, and Legacy for letters.)

    11. Adhere the letters into a piece of twine or ribbon of choice. Attach to the chicken wire and frame using clothespins (painted in coordinating colors) and hot glue.

    13. Add embellishments of choice to the frame, such as peppermint, seashells, and pinecones.
