When it comes to decorating for the holidays, do you choose traditional or non-traditional colors?  Today, I am sharing a non-traditional option for decorating for Halloween.  This neutral Halloween decor has soft and beautiful floral elements that can be customized to your everyday home decor.  The decor is painted with chalky finish paints that add a distressed farmhouse feel.

Instructions:

Start by gathering your supplies.  I like to work with raw materials because they are a blank slate that you can use your imagination with.  I used Americana Decor Chalky Finish in neutral colors to create a distressed farmhouse look.

I started by painting the wood slatted panel using one coat of Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Honor.  I have to say that this navy color paint is my all time favorite.  It is the perfect dark navy and it is just gorgeous.  Once the paint was completely dry, I used a sanding block and a sharp tool to distress the panel.

For the ceramic vase, I started by dabbing one thin coat of Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Honor using a makeup sponge.  Once the first layer of paint was dry, I added a second layer using one coat of Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Heirloom.  Then, I lightly sanded over the raised surface on the vase.

I painted some branches I picked up in my backyard using Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Carbon.  The black branches do add a Halloween touch.

To finish the vase, I added the branches and floral accents in coordinating colors.  The black branches where a bit too bold, so I painted in some Heirloom to break it up.

I hot glued a mint clip to the wood panel and created a printable which I am sharing with you.

This print will be a pretty addition to my decor.

If you have a good quality printer at home, just print as many copies as you like.  I don’t have a good printer at home so I take the files to my local Staples store and have them print on glossy photo paper.  I like how the images look on the glossy photo paper but you can use a heavy white cardstock too.
