Old-Fashioned Stenciled Lemonade Sign

Add a touch of summertime to a kitchen wall with a refreshing stenciled sign.


    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • sandpaper
    • scissors
    • 1" flat brush
    • #10 flat brush
    • scrapbook paper
    • black fine-point permanent marker
    • plain white copy paper
    • cosmetic sponges
    • French Provincial wooden sign



    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Using a 1" flat brush, paint the wooden sign with two coats of Everlasting.
    2. Position the Americana Decor Versatile Checks Stencil on the sign and use a cosmetic sponge to dab on Vintage.

    4. Re-position the stencil on the sign. (The stencil should overlap the previously-stenciled areas.) Use a clean cosmetic sponge to dab on Refreshing.

    6. Using a #10 flat brush, paint the perimeter in Relic.

    8. In the font of your choice, print out the word "Lemonade" and "5¢" and cut out. Use scissors to cut a piece of the black and white scrapbook paper 1/2" wider all around than the words. Use scissors to loosely cut a scalloped design all the way around.

    10. Using a black fine point marker, loosely draw the lemons design onto the yellow and green scrapbook paper and cut out with scissors.

    12. Use a 1" flat brush and Americana Matte Decou-Page to adhere the lemons and the lemonade designs into place. (Refer to photo.)
    13. Lightly sand the sides, perimeter, and front of the sign to distress.
    14. Using a 1" flat brush, seal the entire surface with Decou-Page.
