Use SoSoft Fabric paint a denim jacket in your own style.

    • scissors
    • pencil
    • chalk
    • computer paper
    • wooden board
    • jacket
    • texture tool

    1. Plan your design of animals, insects, shapes, and colors. On paper, do a fast sketch of the design, making it the size you want it to be on the jacket. Cut out the shapes and lay them out on the jacket to decide placement.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Place a wooden board inside the jacket for support while you work. With a piece of chalk, draw the design on the denim jacket, working on one side at a time.
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Fill in the design with colors. (For this jacket, I used Dioxazine Purple and Olive Green for darker areas, rather than Black. I also allowed some of the denim color to show through the paint to create depth.)
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Mix and layer different colors of paint. While the paint is wet, scrape through the wet paint with a texture tool or old credit card to get a feather effect.
    8. Instruction #4
    9. Use different colors and shapes for flowers to create visual interest.
    10. Instruction #5
    11. Use White to add highlights to certain areas. (It helps to create dimension.) Also, for insect wings that are translucent, use a White outline of the shape.
    12. Instruction #6
    13. Allow to dry completely before working on the other side.
