Why keep a bland cover on your art journal when you can customize it with DecoArt media line paints!

Items Needed:

Instructions:

Instruction Image #1

After applying three coats of Media Gesso to the art journal cover, die-cut the Grate Effect die as well as a series of words with the Font One set from cardstock.

Instruction Image #2

Adhere the Grate Effect pieces with Matte Medium and once dry, paint the cover with Diarylide Yellow.

Instruction Image #3

The Grate Effect die works extremely well as a stencil with ink or paint.

Instruction Image #4

Paint the words on a piece of scrap paper and then adhere them with Matte Medium. You’ll want several coats to be sure the cover can hold up to being handled. Use a fine brush to remove any excess medium that builds up in letter openings.

I did some stamping and stenciling with paint and ink, and then ran a dry flat brush around the edges with Carbon Black paint to give the edges a finished look.
