Personalized Back-to-School Tote Bag

Choose any bright, cheerful color of tote bag and add images of books and other school supplies.

SUPPLIES

water container
palette or plastic plate
paper towels
tracing paper
transfer paper
ruler
pencil
#8 flat brush
hot glue gun and glue sticks
#1 round brush
medium canvas tote
#10/0 liner brush
wooden letters
circle wooden letters

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

Start with a canvas tote in the color of your choice. (I think Turquoise is a good color to match my color palette.)

Instruction #1

You will also need wooden pieces to spell out the name or word you want.

Instruction #2

Use a pencil and ruler to make a giant square on the front of the tote bag.

Instruction #3

Use a pencil and the tracing and transfer papers to trace and transfer the images: scissors, pencil, ruler, and books, one to each corner of the square.

Instruction #4

Use a #8 flat brush and School Bus to paint the pencil and ruler. Rinse brush.

Instruction #5

Use a #1 round brush and Red Barn to paint the handles of scissors. Rinse brush.

Instruction #6

Use a #1 round brush and Dolphin to paint the scissor blades. Rinse brush.

Instruction #7

Use a #1 round brush and load separately with Chartreuse to paint the top book; Orange Sherbet to paint the middle book and details on the pencil; and then Blue Bird to paint the bottom book. Rinse the brush between colors and at the end.

Instruction #8

Use a #8 flat brush and Cotton Ball to paint the pages in the books. Rinse brush.

Instruction #9

Use a #10/0 liner brush to mix (2) parts Cotton Ball with (1) part Dolphin. Use the mix to paint the details on book pages and the metal on the pencil. Rinse brush.

Instruction #10

Use a #1 round brush and Flamingo to paint the bottom section of the eraser. Use the same brush, adding a small amount of Cotton Ball to Flamingo to paint the top of the eraser. Rinse brush.

Instruction #11

Use a #1 round brush to mix (2) parts Cotton Ball with (1) part School Bus. Use the mix to paint a sharpened end on the pencil. Rinse brush.

Instruction #12

Use a #10/0 liner brush, Black Tie, and a small amount of water to add lead to the pencil; outline the metal on the pencil, and to add details to the ruler. Rinse brush.

Instruction #13

Use the handle end of a #8 flat brush and dip in Iris. Dip dots on all around the entire square frame. Wipe off the handle.

Instruction #14

Let dots dry completely. (You can warm the glue gun and glue sticks up at this point and begin painting wooden letters.)

Instruction #15

Use a #1 round brush and Chartreuse to paint all the circular wooden letters. Rinse brush.

Instruction #16

Use a #8 flat brush and Lavender Fields to paint the entire letter. Rinse brush. Use a 10/0 liner brush and Chartreuse to outline letter inside. Rinse brush.

Instruction #17

Once all the wooden letters are completely dry, you can use the glue gun to attach them where you want.

Shipping Guidelines:

For US orders shipped via Ground, please allow 6 to 10 business days from the time of order for processing and delivery.

For 2nd Day shipping (US only), please allow 2 to 4 business days from the time of order for processing and delivery. (Note that aerosol sprays will not be shipped via 2nd Day.)

Delivery of items offered in our online store is limited to an address in the United States including U.S. territories, Alaska, and Hawaii. Shipments cannot be delivered to PO Boxes.

Pricing:

Orders totalling over $50 that are being shipped to the US will have the option for free UPS ground shipping (excluding Puerto Rico, Alaska, and Hawaii).

**Free shipping will not be applicable on any orders containing aerosol spray cans as they are considered hazardous by our shipping providers.

Items purchased will be charged at the sales price indicated at the time of purchase. Prices are continuously updated and are subject to change. Past orders will not be updated to reflect later prices. Pricing is always in US dollars.

Clearance Products:

Items offered at clearance pricing are available only while supplies last. Should a clearance item be no longer available, e-mail notification will be sent identifying the cancelled item. Your credit card will not be charged for any item not shipped.

Return Requirements

Products must be returned to DecoArt within 60 days of receipt.
Product must be returned in original condition and bottle/package.
Customer is responsible for return shipping costs. DecoArt will pay for shipping costs if the return is a result of our error.

Initialising a Return

If you have an account and purchased an item from the DecoArt website:

Sign into your store account.
Access the Order tab, click on the order, locate the item you wish to return and hit “Return Item” button
Complete the Return Items form and click Submit.
After completing the request, you will receive an email confirming receipt of your request. Simultaneously, a notification email is delivered to the email address specified in your Store Profile Settings with updated status of your request.
Someone from our DecoArt team will respond to your request by the next business day. We may request additional information, such as batch codes, product photos, etc. to properly service your request.
If a product needs to be returned, someone on our DecoArt team will instruct you on the return process.
You will receive an email notification every time the return status changes.

If You have not set up an account, or you purchased from an authorized retail store please email your return request to returns@decoart.com.

To better assist you in resolving your request in a timely manner, please include the following information:

Purchase location (Retail store, eCommerce site, etc)
Order Number (if applicable)
Product name, Part number, (generally located above the UPC code) and quantity.
