    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Prepare the wooden surfaces. Stain all wood (including the MDF or scrap wood).
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Prepare the vinyl stencil by tracing and cutting out the provided pattern.
    4. Transfer, using a pencil and transfer paper, the vinyl stencil onto the dry wooden surface. (Be careful to line up the vinyl on each plank.)
    5. Instruction #3
    6. Remove the unwanted vinyl (or the portion of the sign that you want to be painted). Remember to remove the words and image that will be in different colors (such as Allegiance, America, and Liberty, as well as the bunting).
    7. Instruction #4
    8. Paint the entire sign with two coats of Lace using a sponge brush. (This does not need to be perfect.) Carefully remove the vinyl lettering using a craft knife while the paint is still wet.
    9. Instruction #5
    10. Apply the other stencils and paint the bunting in Legacy and the wording in Rouge. Carefully remove the vinyl while the paint is still wet.
    11. Instruction #6
    12. Once the paint is completely dry, distress the sign as desired. (Distress it so that the stained wood can be seen underneath.) Remove the sanding dust by wiping gently with a damp paper towel.
    13. Instruction #7
    14. Attach the 15"x 2" MDF backing strips to the back of the surface. Lay the sign face-down and, with a nail gun or staples, attach the two boards so that they hold each plank to each other.
