Turn casual canvas shoes into an autumnal fashion statement with SoSoft® Fabric Paint.
- water container
- palette or plastic plate
- #8 round brush
- #4 round brush
- #1 liner brush
- white canvas shoes
- grey transfer paper
Let dry completely between painting steps.
- The background of the shoes is painted with an almost cloudy or marbled effect. You will use all the paint colors except Buff for the background. Pour each color separately on the palette or plastic plate. Add a few drops of water to each color and stir. Using the #8 brush, apply one color by dabbing and allow to fade out a bit. Apply another color, blending it slightly into the first color and so on until the entire shoe is covered.
- Apply the leaf pattern, using a stylus and the grey transfer paper. Each leaf is painted using all the same colors as the background. The blending technique is done on each leaf using the #4 round brush and the #1 liner brush to get the tight points of the leaves. Apply the veins of each leaf using the liner brush and Pottery Brown with a few drops of water added. Highlight some of the veins using the liner brush and a 1:1 mix of Cadmium Orange and Buff with a few drops of water to thin.
- Add the font to the sides of the shoes using the grey graphite paper and a stylus. Thin Pottery Brown with a few drops of water and, using the liner brush, go over letters once. Go back over a small portion of each letter with Cadmium Orange to brighten.
- Allow the shoes to air-dry for 48 hours.
