Stash trick-or-treat candy in bowls made from plastic pumpkins and Americana® Acrylics.

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • stylus or pencil
    • X-Acto® knife
    • tracing & transfer paper
    • pumpkins
    • paintbrushes

    1. Use a pencil to mark out the area on the pumpkins that you will cut out. (Make sure you are far enough toward the middle so that the bottom of the pumpkin can hold a good amount of candy and that the hole is large enough for a hand to fit through.) Cut the shape out using an X-Acto knife.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Paint the entire interior and exterior of the pumpkins in Copper. Let dry. Once dry, apply a coat of Weathered Wood to the entire exterior of both pumpkins, omitting the stems. Let dry.
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Once the Weathered Wood is dry, paint Mulberry onto the exterior of the larger pumpkin and Wild Orchid onto the smaller pumpkin. (Keep in mind that the direction you paint in will be the direction in which the surface starts to crack; the pumpkins shown were painted using a vertical, up-and-down stroke.)
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Print the pattern to size and place in the desired area. Trace and transfer the text to the surface of the pumpkin using tracing & transfer paper. Paint in the lettering using Lamp Black. Let dry. Once everything is dry, spray the exterior of both pumpkins with Gloss Spray Finish to protect them for years to come.
