Go back in time with a holiday ornament created with DecoArt Opaque Glass Markers!
SUPPLIES
- paper towels
- rubbing alcohol
- clear glass ornament
- thin ribbon or string
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Make sure to prime your glass paint markers before using. Shake and pump the tip of marker on a clean surface until paint fills the tip.
- For this project, get a clear glass (or plastic) ornament of any size or shape. TIP: You could upcycle an old metallic or colored ornament as well.
- First, wipe down the surface of the ornament with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel to remove oil and dirt. Next, with a makeup sponge, dab Silver Glass Paint onto surface of ornament. Allow to dry. (TIP: Rinse and squeeze out the moisture in the makeup sponge each time you use it for a smooth application.)
- Apply several more coats of Silver to the ornament until the surface coverage is opaque. Allow to dry in between coats.
- Use the provided pattern for a guide and inspiration for your design. Begin drawing in the middle of one side. Paint an oval with Green Opaque Glass Paint Marker.
- Continue the design with Yellow and Fuchsia Opaque Glass Paint Markers.
- Expand the design further with Turquoise Opaque Glass Paint Marker. Allow to dry.
- Looking at the top of the ornament, begin to add lines, star patterns and dots with Red, Green and Yellow Opaque Glass Paint Markers. Allow to dry.
- Continue to draw on retro-inspired designs working in sections and alternating colors to get a nice, colorful look. Allow to dry and then add a ribbon or string to hang.
- Add this ornament with other DIY ornaments for a colorful, eclectic tree. This hand-made ornament would make a great gift as well!
