Let dry completely between painting steps.
- If needed, sand the board and wipe away any sanding dust with a paper towel.
- With a 2" chip brush, cover the entire board with Carbon.
- Tape off about a 1-1/2"-2" border around the entire board. Using a soft cloth, apply Gold Rush along the entire outside border. Let dry. Once dry, buff to shine.
- Remove the tape. Freehand "Happy New Year" or other desired phrase in the Carbon area. With a small flat brush, paint in the lettering with Gold Rush.
- Roughly paint in swirly accents and lining around the wording with Gold Rush.
- Paint a papier-mâché lid or other round object in Gold Rush. Let dry. Once dry, loosely paint the year and decorative elements in Carbon with a #5 round brush.
- Apply Soft-Touch Varnish to the board.
- For a removable year, attach velcro onto the papier-mâché lid and sign. Attach the year sign. (If a permanent year is wanted, use E6000 Glue.)
