Santa's Helpers Painted Christmas Rocks

Create rocks of Santa and his helpers using Americana® Multi-Surface Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

    • rocks
    • small acrylic paint brushes, assorted sizes and shapes
    • newspaper or dropcloth

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Wash the rock and let it dry completely before painting. Protect the work surface with a sheet of newspaper. Allow paint to fully dry between steps and when changing to a new color. Repeat each step as needed for additional coverage.

    1. For Santa: Mix Cotton Ball with Cocoa Bean 2:1 and use the mix to paint a circle onto the center of the rock.

    3. For Santa: Paint the beard, hair, and bottom band of the hat in Cotton Ball.

    5. For Santa: Paint the hat in Lipstick.

    7. For Santa: Mix Cotton Ball with a small amount of Black Tie. Use mix to paint Santa’s mustache and for shading on his beard.

    9. For Santa: Mix Cocoa Bean with a small amount of Cotton Ball. Use mix to paint a small circle for the nose. Paint the eyes, eyebrows, and a pompom in Cotton Ball.

    11. For Santa: Mix Lipstick with a small amount of Cotton Ball and use to paint the mouth. Using a very fine tip brush, dip the paintbrush in Black Tie and add small dots for the eyes.

    13. For the elf: Mix Cotton Ball with Cocoa Bean 2:1 and use mix to paint an oval with pointy ears. (See photo.)

    15. For the elf: Paint the hair in Pumpkin Patch. Mix Cocoa Bean with a small amount of Cotton Ball and use the mix to paint a circle for the nose and ovals for the inner ears.

    17. For the elf: Paint two circles for the eyes and the bottom band of the hat in Cotton Ball.

    19. For the elf: Using a very fine tip paintbrush, paint the mouth in Lipstick.

    21. For the elf: Paint the hat in Apple Green and add a small jingle bell to the bottom of the hat in Canary.

    23. For the elf: Paint two small circles for the eyes in Black Tie.

    25. For the reindeer: Paint an oval onto the lower half of the rock in Cocoa Bean.

    27. For the reindeer: Paint another oval for the reindeer's nose in Black Tie toward the bottom of the rock. (See photo.)

    29. For the reindeer: Paint two small ovals for the reindeer's eyes in Cotton Ball. Add two reindeer ears in Cocoa Bean. (See photo.)

    31. For the reindeer: Mix Cocoa Bean with Black Tie 2:1; use mix to paint antlers to the upper half of the rock.

    33. For the reindeer: Using a very fine tip brush, dip the paintbrush in Black Tie and add small dots to eyes. Add a small oval to the top of the reindeer's nose in Cotton Ball and two additional dots on the eyes.
