Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with this sunny, shamrock-laden wall canvas, compliments of Americana Acrylics.

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • transfer paper
    • pencil
    • #4 round brush
    • #0 liner brush
    • 1/2" angle brush
    • 18" x 18" stretched canvas

Allow to dry between painting steps.

    1. Print the pattern and enlarge to the appropriate size for the canvas. (You will probably have to break the pattern into sections to get it large enough.)
    2. Paint the entire canvas Snow White with the 1/2" angle brush.
    3. Use transfer paper to trace the pattern onto the canvas, or if you are comfortable with it, free-hand the design on lightly with a pencil.
    4. Paint the tree trunk and branches using Lamp Black and the #0 liner brush. Fill in thick areas in using Lamp Black and the 1/2" angle brush.
    5. Paint the small shamrocks onto thin branches using Leaf Green and the #0 liner brush. (Create shamrocks by connecting three heart shapes at their points, with their sides touching each other. This leaves open area at the bottom for a stem.)
    6. Add large Leaf Green shamrocks around the outside of the tree. (For larger shamrocks, use the round or liner brush.)
    7. Use Hauser Light Green to paint more large shamrocks around the outside of the tree with the round or liner brush, depending on the size of the shamrocks.
    8. Fill in the rest of shamrocks in different sizes and colors using Golden Straw, Primary Yellow, and Jack-O’-Lantern Orange and either the round or liner brush.
    9. Use the handle end of a paintbrush to add different colored dots in various places around the tree.
