Spring Flower Pot Whimsey

Chase away those winter blahs by making this colorful flower pot with Americana® Multi-Surface Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • tracing paper
    • transfer paper
    • pencil
    • liner brush
    • #8 round brush
    • #12 flat brush
    • black fine point marker
    • floral sponge and plant stake (optional)
    • potting soil and live plant (optional)
    • terra cotta pot

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Basecoat the pot Mushroom using a #12 flat brush.
    2. Add dots to the rim of the pot using handle end of a #12 flat brush (or thumb) with Cotton Ball.
    3. With a pencil and the tracing and transfer papers, transfer the flower designs onto the pot.
    4. Paint all the leaves and stems using a #8 round brush in Turf Green; add a highlight with Apple Green on a side-loaded brush.
    5. Using a #8 round brush, paint the red flower Lipstick with dots in Pumpkin Patch. The square center is Flamingo. The dot buds are Flamingo and the smaller dots on top are Lipstick. (See photo for color placement.)
    6. Paint checks on the checked flower in Cotton Ball and Black Tie. Dot on Eggplant using the eraser end of a pencil in the center. (See photo for color placement.)
    7. Using a #8 round brush, paint the blue flower is Sky Blue and the dots are placed using handle end of the brush in Chartreuse. (See photo for color placement.)
    8. Using a #8 round brush, paint the square center in Lavender Fields and the plaid in Eggplant. (See photo for color placement.)
    9. Using a #8 round brush, paint the yellow flower in School Bus; the center is Pumpkin Patch. Add dots with the handle end of a liner brush with School Bus. The petals are painted with a liner brush using Cotton Ball.
    10. The filler flowers are placed on each side of the larger flowers with a liner brush and Blue Bird.
    11. Apply more dots to the flowers and all around with the eraser end of a pencil and School Bus.
    12. Using the small end of black marker, add stems and leaves to filler flowers and stamens to checked flower.
    13. Add stitch marks to all flowers with a black marker. (See photo for placement.)
    14. Add more ink work to suit yourself.
    15. Fill the flowerpot with a floral sponge and plant stake (see photo) or with soil and live plant.
