Stacked Valentine's Day Heart and Arrow

Arm yourself for Valentine's Day with home décor pieces made with Americana® Acrylics.


    • water container
    • paper towels
    • sandpaper
    • pencil
    • 2" foam brush
    • saw-tooth picture hanger
    • small nail and hammer
    • E6000 Glue
    • ribbon
    • glitter
    • wooden shapes
    • metal shape
    • glue dots
    • paper plate



    Keep paper towels handy to wipe up any possible drips or spills.

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Sand any rough edges on the wooden hearts with fine-grit sandpaper. Wipe dust from the hearts with a paper towel.

    3. Paint the largest wooden arrow and the smallest heart with two coats of Snow White.

    5. Paint the medium-sized arrow and the medium heart with two coats of Flamingo.

    7. Paint the largest heart with two coats of Poodleskirt Pink.

    9. Lightly sand the edges of the painted hearts and arrows with fine-grit sandpaper. Use a paper towel to wipe away any dust.

    11. Using a foam brush, apply a light and even coat of Americana Matte Decou-Page to the medium-sized arrow, then immediately sprinkle with a glitter of choice.

    13. Repeat the above step with the smallest heart.

    15. Use a clean pencil eraser dipped into a small amount of Snow White to create polka dots around the border of the medium-sized heart. (Dip the eraser into the paint for each dot.) Press down lightly when painting the dots.

    17. Glue the hearts together with E6000 Glue, following package instructions. Attach hanging hardware to the back side of the largest heart. Create a bow with decorative ribbon and tie it around the stacked hearts.

    19. Glue the medium and largest arrows together with epoxy or E6000 Glue, following package instructions. Attach the metal arrow with small nails.
