Stained and Painted Vintage Dresser

Dress up a vintage dresser with Americana Decor® Chalky Finish™.

SUPPLIES

    • flat brush
    • dresser
    • waxing brush
    • screwdriver
    • clean cloth
    • drawer pull
    • paint stick
    • container
    • hand-sander

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    The dresser chosen for this project needs to be real wood.

    1. Remove all of the hardware and unwanted trim from the dresser or console.

    3. Sand off the old paint or stain with an electric sander, or by hand. (You won't need to sand heavily where the paint will be applied, only where the stain will be applied.)

    5. Clean the sanded surface with a tack cloth or mildly wet towel. Apply Walnut Gel Stain with a brush to the front of the drawers and the top of the dresser. Allow to dry completely.

    7. Apply Clear Crème Wax to the fronts of the drawers and the top of the dresser.

    9. Using an empty paint can or other seal-able container, pour three jars of Primitive into the paint can. Pour one jar of Treasure into the paint can. Combine the two colors with a paint stick until completely smooth.

    11. Use a paintbrush to apply one or two coats of the mixed paint onto the dresser. Let dry.

    13. Once the paint has dried, use a wax brush to apply Clear Crème Wax to the Chalk-painted surfaces.

    15. Attach the desired hardware.
