INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
- Wipe down the tray with a damp paper towel to get any dust or residue off.
- Use a 1" flat brush to basecoat the tray in Lace and then, in some areas, add Carbon. (Do not overlap colors.) Rinse brush.
- Use the same brush to apply Crackle Medium, following label instructions. Rinse the brush.
- Use the same brush to apply Lace over the Crackle Medium. (It will instantly start crackling.) Rinse the brush. Let dry completely.
- Use a 1" flat brush to paint over the tray with Cameo. Rinse brush. Let dry completely.
- Use a pencil and white transfer paper to transfer the pattern onto the tray.
- BACKGROUND: Use the 1/2" angular brush to shade around the edge and make the board lines with Carbon.
- Using the 1/2" angular brush, wash in grain lines with Carbon by adding a little water to the paint to get an inky consistency.
- FLOWER PETALS: Use the 1/4" or 1/2" flat brush to basecoat the petals with Inheritance. Rinse brush.
- Use the 1/2" angular brush to shade each petal with Rustic, pulling out the lines from the base of each petal. (Turn the brush on the chisel edge to pull out the lines.)
- STEMS AND LEAVES: Use the 1/4" flat brush to basecoat with Enchanted.
- Highlight the stems and leaves with New Life. (When highlighting, I like to use the 1/2” angular brush.)
- Repeat the highlight with Lace.
- Add the details to the stems and leaves and pull out the curlicues with the 18/0 liner brush and Carbon.
- Paint the rim of the tray (if it has one) with Carbon. Let dry.
- Use a 1" flat brush to seal the tray with Ultra-Matte Varnish.
