Enshrine some Halloween fun into party dècor with MagiKote™ Styrofoam Coating and Americana® Acrylics.

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • #3 round brush
    • 3/4" flat brush
    • sea sponge
    • black Sharpie® marker
    • hand-sander or sandpaper
    • fan brush
    • four Styrofoam sheets (thick and thin)
    • Styrofoam cutter

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Use a black marker to draw the tombstones and sayings on each Styrofoam sheet.
    2. Use a Styrofoam or box cutter to cut out the tombstones and add cracks to them as desired.
    3. Use sandpaper or a hand-sander to smooth out the edges.
    4. Use a Styrofoam or box cutter to carve sayings and designs on the tombstones.
    5. Apply a thin layer of MagiKote on each tombstone using a fan brush.
    6. Let dry completely and sand each tombstone entirely. Apply MagiKote and sand again. Repeat until the desired smoothness. For a smoother finish, after two coats, use a 3/4" flat brush to apply MagiKote
    7. When the tombstones are completely dry, basecoat them Slate Grey using a 3/4" flat brush.
    8. Mix (1) part Staining/ Antiquing Medium with (1) part Celery Green. Make a separate mixture of (1) part Staining/Antiquing Medium with (1) part Dark Chocolate. Double-load a sea sponge with both mixtures and dab around the tombstones for a moss-covered look.
    9. Use a #3 round brush with Lamp Black to fill in the words and designs.
