Trash Can Turned Friendly Robot

Add a sci-fi vibe to your home planet with this robotic trash can.


    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • painter's tape
    • 2" flat brush
    • 1" flat brush
    • 1/4" flat brush
    • glass cleaner
    • circle or oval pattern
    • trash can



    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Clean the entire trash can with glass cleaner.

    3. On the lid, paint everything but the rotating part in Red Barn.

    5. Sketch out or trace a circular object that will be the eye of the robot. Paint the rotating part of the lid in Silver (Metallic), except the circular shape. Let dry. Once dry, use a 1/4" flat brush to outline the eye in True Blue. Use Silver (Metallic) and True Blue to add in small robotic details. (Refer to photo for placement.)

    7. Using a 2" flat brush, create a ring around the bottom of the can in Red Barn. (Use painter's tape, if needed.) Using a 1" flat brush, lay out more robotic details in Red Barn, True Blue, and Silver (Metallic). (Refer to photo for placement.)

    9. Add completing details to the trash can with a 1/4" flat brush. Add Chartreuse, True Blue, and Red Barn within the square. Use the handle end of the brush to create dots. (Refer to photo for placement.)
