Trio of Autumn Glasses

Leaves in warm, rich autumn colors turn plain wine glasses into the perfect stemware for your fall dinners.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • paper towels
    • rubbing alcohol
    • #6 flat brush
    • #8 flat brush
    • cosmetic sponge
    • palette paper
    • 3 wine glasses
    • tape
    • single edge razor blade

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Do not use any lotions on your hands prior to handling the glasses.

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. CLASSIC FALL LEAVES (photo: at right) Clean the wine glass surface with rubbing alcohol. Let dry completely.
    2. Cut out the pattern. Make small slits in the pattern so that it fits inside the wine glass. With the pattern facing out, tape in place.
    3. Paint the leaves using a #8 flat brush. The color of the leaves, starting from left to right: Base, Pumpkin Patch and highlight, Dark Scarlet; base, Canary, and highlight, Leprechaun; base, Cocoa Bean, and highlight, Dark Scarlet; base, Green Beret, and highlight, Black Tie; base, Canary, and highlight, Pumpkin Patch.

    5. All leaves are outlined and have vein work using the Black Glass Paint Marker.

    7. Using a cosmetic sponge, pounce on Leprechaun, filling in solidly from the top of the stem to the bottom.
    8. With the handle end of a paintbrush, add Cocoa Bean dots around the bottom of the leaves and onto the stem. Turn the wine glass over and put dots on the bottom of the base.
    9. Let the wine glass dry completely. Turn the wine glass upside down and place it in a cool oven. Turn oven to 325 degrees and bake for 35 minutes. Turn the oven off and let cool it before removing the wine glass.
    10. FALL LEAVES IN BLUE (photo: middle): Prepare the wine glass and pattern as noted in steps 1 and 2 above.

    12. The leaves are painted using a # 8 flat brush. Base all the leaves in Deep Turquoise. Highlight around the edges with Yellow Gold (Metallic). Shade in the middle of leaf around the veins with Eggplant. The outlining and veins are done using the Black Glass Paint Marker.
    13. Using a cosmetic sponge, pounce on Deep Turquoise, filling in solidly from the top of the stem to the bottom. The stripes, one on the bottom and two at the top of the stem, are Yellow Gold (Metallic) using the #6 flat brush. Outline the stripes with the Black Glass Paint Marker.
    14. With the handle end of a paintbrush, add Yellow Gold (Metallic) dots on the bottom side of the glass.
    15. Let the wine glass dry completely. Turn the wine glass upside down and place it in a cool oven. Turn oven to 325 degrees and bake for 35 minutes. Turn the oven off and let cool it before removing the wine glass.

    18. The leaves are painted using a # 8 flat brush. The leaf colors, starting from left to right: base first and third leaves with Dark Scarlet; second and fifth leaves with Cocoa Bean; and the fourth leaf, Yellow Gold (Metallic). Highlight the Dark Scarlet and Cocoa Bean leaf edges with Yellow Gold (Metallic). Shade in the middle of the leaves around the veins: Scarlet Red on the Cocoa Bean leaves; Cocoa Bean on the Scarlet Red leaves. Outline and vein leaves with the Black Glass Paint Marker.
    19. Using a cosmetic sponce, pounce on Dark Scarlet, filling in solidly from the top of the stem to the bottom. The stripes, one on the bottom and two at the top of the stem, are Yellow Gold (Metallic) using the # 6 flat brush. Outline the stripes with the Black Glass Paint Marker. With the handle end of a paintbrush add Yellow Gold (Metallic) dots on the bottom of the stem.

    21. Let the wine glass dry completely. Turn the wine glass upside down and place it in a cool oven. Turn oven to 325 degrees and bake for 35 minutes. Turn the oven off and let cool it before removing the wine glass.
