Pieces of rope, candleholders, and miniature sea creatures, coupled with DecoArt Media®, will make this canvas pop.

    • E6000 Glue

    • glass candleholders


    1. Tear Decou-Page Safari Life Paper into three vertical strips. Use a flat brush to adhere the stripes down to the canvas with Matte Decou-Page; seal with more Decou-Page on top.

    3. Use a flat brush to paint over the paper with Yellow Oxide. Use the same brush to shade with Transparent Yellow Iron Oxide around the edges and where the three papers overlap. Rinse brush.

    5. Pounce on Green Gold and Phthalo Green-Blue with a cosmetic sponge to shade the edges and where the glass candleholders will go.

    7. Use a round brush to make the starfish look like they are rusted using Transparent Yellow Iron Oxide, Cadmium Orange Hue, and Phthalo Green-Blue.

    9. Use a palette knife to mix Texture Sand Paste with Phthalo Green-Blue and Cadmium Orange Hue. Apply it over the green-painted areas to age it more.

    11. Tear and shape the air-dry paper clay into sea creatures: octopus, shark, seahorse, coral, seaweed, sand/ rock, and bubbles. Use a round brush to paint them using Vermilion, Raw Sienna, Green Gold, Primary Magenta, Titanium White, and Phthalo Turquoise.

    13. Use a liner brush to add details to the creatures using the same colors. Use E6000 Glue to adhere the starfish and clay items into the paper circles. (It is important to hold the glass over the circle first to make sure that, when you glue on the creatures, the glass still fits over them.)

    15. Use E6000 Glue to adhere the glass candleholders over the creatures to create a window.

    17. Use scissors to cut three pieces of rope to fit around the glass candleholders.

    19. Use a hot glue gun to adhere the rope around the windows.
