    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • stylus or pencil
    • transfer paper
    • scissors
    • 2" flat brush
    • cosmetic sponge
    • oil pastels
    • wooden panel
    • scrapbook papers

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Mix a 2:1 ratio of Titanium White and Primary Magenta. Paint the entire wooden panel or canvas with the mix using a 2" flat brush.
    2. Create a wash of Primary Magenta. Over a sink, place puddles of the wash along the edge of the panel. Tilt the panel into the sink, allowing the paint to drip along the surface.
    3. Mix a 3:1 ratio of Titanium White and Primary Magenta. Position the stencil as desired (shown: Americana Alpha Collage Stencil). Using a cosmetic sponge, apply the mix to the panel, slowly fading out the paint on the right side. Use the handle end of a paintbrush to create polka dots on the right side.
    4. Using the transfer paper, transfer the balloon, cloud, and sun patterns to the scrapbook papers of choice. Paint the circles of the hot air balloon in a Primary Magenta wash. Create a wash of Green Gold and paint the sun and the rest of the hot air balloon. Create a mix of Phthalo Turquoise, Dark Grey Value 3, and Titanium White. Apply to the clouds, letting some areas be more opaque than others to give a cloud-like appearance. Cut out the balloon, clouds, and sun.
    5. Apply Americana Paper Decou-Page to the area where the images will be placed. Position the image and apply another layer of Decou-Page to the image to seal.
    6. Using an oil pastel, outline the detail work of the hot air balloon. Outline the sun, hot air balloon, and clouds. Using a finger, smudge the oil pastel to create a blended look.
