Upcycled Easter Candy Jar Trio

Easter candy takes on a whole new look when you add these cute designs to a plain glass jar threesome.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • paper towels
    • painter's tape
    • liner brush
    • soft bristle, full brush
    • soft bristle, shorter brush
    • chopsticks (optional)
    • glass jars with lids

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. BUNNY JAR: Print off the pattern and tape it to the inside of the jar with painter’s tape.
    2. Outline the rabbit, features, and egg using a liner brush and Black.
    3. Mix Pink Crystal and White Crystal into a light pink. Dip a soft bristle, full brush into the mix, dipping generously. Add to the rabbit, working the paint around to all edges. Let dry.
    4. When paint is thoroughly dry, add another coat of Pink Crystal/White Crystal mix. When the desired color is achieved, let dry again.
    5. Paint Pink Crystal for inside the rabbit's left ear. (You can mix Pink Crystal and Red Crystal for a darker pink and can use mix for the rabbit's nose.)
    6. For the eye, use Blue Crystal mixed with White Crystal for a lighter blue.
    7. For the whisker/cheek area, use Yellow Crystal.
    8. For the teeth, use White Crystal.
    9. Outline the egg using a liner brush and Black Crystal.
    10. Paint dots on the egg using the tip of a chopstick or the handle end of a paintbrush. When paint is thoroughly dry, paint the egg in a color of your choice.
    11. For textured dots, carefully use generous amounts of paint for a second coat and dry the jar flat.
    12. For a more defined, bolder border, trace the images with Black when finished painting color.
    13. For the grass, dip a soft bristle, shorter brush generously into Green Crystal. Outline to where you want to start painting the blades by blotting brush onto surface, making the mound for the rabbit.
    14. Mix 1:1 Green Crystal and Yellow Crystal. Using a liner brush and the mix, paint the blades at the top of the Green Crystal mound around the rabbit, covering the mound.
    15. Using a liner brush and Green Crystal, paint the darker blades on top of Green Crystal/Yellow Crystal mix. (If you would like even darker green blades, mix Green Crystal and Black Crystal.)
    16. Paint the lid with a complementary Americana Acrylic color and coat for protection with Americana Primer & Sealer.
    17. BLUEBIRDS AND EASTER EGG JAR: Print off the pattern and tape it to the inside of the jar with painter’s tape.
    18. Trace the eggs and designs with Black Glitter.
    19. Trace the birds with Black Crystal.
    20. The Easter eggs are painted with White Glitter, Black Glitter, Yellow Glitter, Blue Glitter, Orange Glitter, Green Glitter, and Purple Glitter on a soft bristle, full brush, dipped generously into the paint, dabbed onto the surface, and spread around to all the edges.
    21. Using a soft bristle brush, paint a thin layer of Blue Crystal onto body and wings of the birds. For the beak, use a liner brush and Orange Crystal, lightly dabbing paint to fill beak.
    22. For the grass, dip a soft bristle, shorter brush generously into Green Crystal. Outline to where you want to start painting the blades by blotting the brush onto the surface around the base of then eggs.
    23. Mix Green Crystal and Yellow Crystal 1:1. Using a liner brush and the mix, paint the blades at top of Green Crystal around eggs. Using a liner brush and Green Crystal, paint darker blades on top of Green Crystal/Yellow Crystal mix grass. (If you would like even darker grass blades, mix Green Crystal and Black Crystal.)
    24. For more defined, bolder border, trace the images with Black Crystal when finished painting color.
    25. Paint lid with complementary Americana Acrylic color and coated for protection with Americana Primer & Sealer.
    26. NESTING BLUEBIRD JAR: Print off the pattern and tape it to the inside of the jar with painter’s tape.
    27. Mix Green Crystal and Black Crystal 1:1 for a very dark green, adding Black Crystal until very deep green appears. Outline the tree limbs using a liner brush.
    28. Outline the bird and features with Black Crystal using a liner brush.
    29. Fill in the limbs with the same dark green paint mixed in step 27, using a liner brush generously dipped into paint. Blot the paint heavily and lightly fill in to all edges. (Save mix for later step.)
    30. For the nest, mix Orange Crystal with a small amount of Black Crystal for a straw color. Using the liner brush, brush out the nest, brushing up on sides leaving a straw/twig-like edge.
    31. Outline the tops of the eggs showing from top of nest with Black Crystal.
    32. Make pastel colors for eggs by mixing half White Crystal with half of a color of choice.
    33. Outline the leaves with Green Crystal/Black Crystal mix from step 27. Outline the leaves sparsely and then fill in to the desired thickness.
    34. Fill in the leaves using a liner brush with Green Crystal.
    35. Paint the bird using a mix of Blue Crystal and White Crystal. Dip the soft bristle, full brush generously into paint, blotting around to all edges. Let dry.
    36. When paint is thoroughly dry, retrace features and outline of bird with Black Crystal.
    37. For the beak, use Orange Crystal.
    38. Paint the lid with a complementary Americana Acrylic color and coat for protection with Americana Primer & Sealer.
