Velvet Stenciled Neon Bird Art

Add a bold pops of color to home décor with these neon birds painted on velvet with Americana Multi-Surface Acrylics.
SUPPLIES
- stencil brush
- stretched canvas
- black velvet
- staple gun and staples
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
- Assemble the artboard by stretching a piece of black velvet fabric around a standard artist’s canvas and stapling in place. Position the bird portion of the Urban Ink Spirited stencil in the upper left corner.
- Using a stencil brush, paint the stencil onto the velvet with Cotton Ball.
- Apply a second coat of Cotton Ball and remove the stencil.
- Gently wash and dry the stencil. Flip the stencil over and position the bird portion on the bottom right corner of the artboard.
- Using a stencil brush, paint the stencil onto the velvet with Cotton Ball. Repeat with a second coat of paint for added coverage.
- Gently wash and dry the stencil. Re-position the stencil over the Cotton Ball-stenciled bird, making sure to align all of the edges as before.
- Using a stencil brush, paint the wings, tail, and head of the bird in Green (Neon). Repeat as needed for desired coverage.
- Paint the feathers in Yellow (Neon). Repeat as needed for desired coverage.
- Paint the beak in Orange (Neon).
- Paint the eye in Blue (Neon).
- Remove the stencil. Gently wash and dry the stencil before using on the second stenciled bird.
- Re-position the stencil over the other stenciled bird. Using a stencil brush, paint the wings and head in Yellow (Neon), the feathers in Blue (Neon), the beak in Orange (Neon), and the eye in Green (Neon).
