Wine Glass Christmas Candleholders

Use wine glasses as Christmas candleholders by turning them upside down and decorating them with Americana® Gloss Enamels.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • rubbing alcohol
    • #3 round brush
    • liner brush
    • toothpicks
    • stylus
    • 3/8" flat brush
    • sponge pouncer
    • #1 round brush
    • 1/8" flat brush
    • #10/0 liner brush
    • three tall clear-stemmed wine glasses
    • cotton balls
    • scruffy brush

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Preparation: Clean the surfaces of glass, inside and out, with rubbing alcohol and cotton balls.

    Print out or trace the patterns desired and tape to the inside of the glass for each project.

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. PENGUIN GLASS: Use the 3/8” flat brush to paint the three penguins with Black.
    2. Use the 1/8” flat brush to paint the chest and face areas of the penguin with White.
    3. Use a #1 round brush to paint the penguin cheeks Baby Pink; the beak, Primary Yellow; and the holly leaf bow tie, Festive Green.
    4. Dip dot the eyes and buttons, using a stylus or back of a small paintbrush, Black and the holly berries using Tuscan Red.
    5. Use a #10/0 liner brush and Black to line the beaks, the eyebrows, and the eyelashes.
    6. Use the #3 round brush to shade the beaks and cheeks slightly with Tuscan Red and the outside edge of the white chest and face with Primary Yellow.
    7. Use a toothpick or stylus and White to paint tiny dip dots on the eyes and cheeks.
    8. Use the #10/0 liner brush and White to paint the snowflakes. Dip dot the snowflakes and background, using a toothpick and White. (Refer to photo.)
    9. Use the pouncer and White to paint a scalloped edge around the base of the candleholder.
    10. Use a 3/8” flat brush to paint the inside of the glass with one smooth coat of Blue Crystal.
    11. Lay the glass on its side to dry.
    12. SNOWMEN GLASS: Use a 1-1/8" pouncer to paint the body of the center snowmen and the 1” pouncer to paint the bodies of the snowmen on the sides White.
    13. Use the 1” pouncer to paint the head of the center snowman and the 3/4" pouncer to paint the heads of the snowmen on the sides White.
    14. Use the #3 round brush to paint the top hat on the center snowman Black. Use the #1 round brush to paint the hats of the side snowman Tuscan Red or Festive Green. (Refer to photo.)
    15. Use the #1 round brush to paint the scarves, bow tie, hat band, and the pompoms on the hats Tuscan Red or Festive Green. (Refer to photo.)
    16. Use #1 round brush to paint the snowman cheeks Baby Pink.
    17. Dip dot the eyes, mouth and buttons, using a stylus or back of a small paintbrush, Black, making sure to leave room for the carrot noses.
    18. Use a #10/0 liner brush and Bright Orange to paint the carrot noses.
    19. Use a #10/0 liner brush and Black to paint the eyebrows and eyelashes.
    20. Use a toothpick and White to paint tiny dip dots on the eyes and the Tuscan Red hat.
    21. Use the #10/0 liner brush and White to paint the snowflakes.
    22. Dip dot the snowflakes and background, using a toothpick and White. (Refer to photo.)
    23. Use the #10/0 liner brush and White to paint the stripes on the Festive Green hat, the highlight line on the hat band, and the details on the bow tie.
    24. Use the 3/4" pouncer and White to paint a scalloped edge around the base of the candleholder.
    25. Use a 3/8” flat brush to paint the inside of the glass with one smooth coat of Blue Crystal.
    26. Lay the glass on its side to dry.
    27. CAROLER'S GLASS: Use the 1-1/8” pouncer to paint the body of the center caroler Festive Green and the 1” pouncer to paint the bodies of the carolers on the sides Tuscan Red.
    28. Use the 1” pouncer to paint the head of the center caroler and the 3/4" pouncer to paint the heads of the carolers on the sides Sand.
    29. Use the #3 round brush to paint the hat on the center caroler Festive Green and the hats of the side carolers Tuscan Red.
    30. Use #1 round brush to paint the carolers’ cheeks Baby Pink.
    31. Use #1 round brush to paint the carolers’ mouths Black.
    32. Use the liner brush and Black to paint the eyes, eyebrows, eyelashes, nose, and the seam lines on the jackets.
    33. Dip dot the buttons on the jackets, using a stylus or toothpick, Black.
    34. Use the #3 round brush and Milk Chocolate to paint the hair on all three carolers.
    35. Use the #1 round brush and Blue Crystal to paint the eyeshadow and Baby Pink to blush the nose.
    36. Use a scruffy, old brush or the handle end of a brush to pounce on the collars and the furry part of the hats with White.
    37. Using the end of a large paintbrush, dip dot the pompoms using White.
    38. Using the liner brush and the #3 round brushes, paint the music notes Black.
    39. Dip dot the snowflakes and the background, using a toothpick and White. (Refer to photo.)
    40. Use the 3/4" pouncer and White to paint a scalloped edge around the base of the candleholder.
    41. Use a 3/8” flat brush to paint the inside of the glass with one smooth coat of Blue Crystal.
    42. Lay the glass on its side to dry.
