Wooden shapes, colored with Americana® Acrylics and Clear Chalkboard Coating, can be matched to suit any season.

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • 1" wide sponge brushes
    • colored chalk
    • miniature colored clothespins
    • twine or sturdy ribbon, about 4" in length
    • thin wood shapes such as ovals or circles (6 or more)

    1. Using a 1" sponge brush, paint the wooden shapes with a few coats of Americana Acrylics until opaque. (Sets of three shapes work best: I chose to make the bunting with six ovals, so I ended up painting two ovals each of Tangelo Orange, Turquoise Blue, and Margarita.) Let dry.
    2. With the 1" sponge brush, paint a vertical coat of Clear Chalkboard Coating on the surface of each wooden shape and let dry one hour.
    3. Paint a horizontal coat of Clear Chalkboard Coating with the sponge brush and let dry.
    4. Allow the wooden shapes to cure for 24 hours.
    5. Using colored chalk, add letters or pictures to each wooden shape.
    6. Attach all the wooden shapes to a sturdy piece of ribbon or twine with miniature colored clothespins.
    7. When you are ready to change the theme of the bunting, simply unclip each wooden shape, lightly wash with a damp sponge, and decorate again with chalk.
