Layer fabrics to create cute watermelon shapes on a plain placemat.

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • tracing paper
    • transfer paper
    • scissors
    • 3/4" flat brush
    • fabric of choice
    • 1" painter's tape
    • pen
    • 3/4" pouncer
    • burlap placemat

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Start with a colored of regular burlap placemat.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Use painter's tape to make it so there is three sections.
    4. Use a 3/4" Flat brush to paint the outer sections Coral Shell and the middle Sweet mint. Rinse brush.
    5. Use a 3/4" Flat brush to mix (2) parts Titanium White with (1)part Sweet Mint. Make a big batch because the pouncer will soak most of it up. Then use the pouncer to make random polka dots in the middle section. Wash pouncer.
    6. Use a pen to trace and transfer the patterns onto fabric of choice I used a pink fabric, lime green fabric, and plain black fabric. Then cut out with scissors.
    7. Once placemat is dry you can use a 3/4" Flat brush to attach and layer fabrics using Fabric Decoupage. Follow label instructions. Then be sure to brush more on top when finished to seal and protect. Rinse brush.
